You can also review the information below on some of the common problems with Sears water softeners to self-diagnose the problem and determine the solution.

To clarify, if you have purchased a water softener from Sears it is most likely a Kenmore branded unit as Kenmore is the only water softener brand Sears sells.

Kenmore is Sear's own brand that they own, sourcing suppliers to design and build the units for them.

Leaky Softener Tank

If you have a tank that leaks the first thing you should do is check the warranty. On most Kenmore models the warranty is good against any leads for ten years after purchase. In the section below you can find a list of manuals for many of the common models to see if your warranty does, in fact, cover your leak, given the date you purchased your unit.

No Soft Water

If your system is just no outputting soft water you know you have an issue that needs to be solved. Here is a great video on a quick way to tell if your water is hard or soft.

Salt Tank Fills With Water

If you have an issue with your Kenmore water softener being full of water you are experiencing one of the more common problems with the Kenmore models. When this happens you will usually experience that you don't have soft water.

Water In Salt Tank About Half Way Up The Tank

Another common concern we get calls about often is that people tell us that water is about half way up their salt tank. If you have this issue there is something wrong with your water softener. The good news is that usually if you have this issue it can be fixed easily.

Problem Not Covered Under Warranty

If you have a problem with your Sears water softener the first thing you should do is check to see if the repair will be under warranty.

Unfortunately, the Sears water softeners do not have a very long warranty as their warranty is only good for 1 year from the date of purchase for any defects, with the exception of leaks that the warranty covers for 10 years on most models.

Below are some more links to warranties of some of the top models. As you will see the warranty in most of the manuals is shown on page #2 and indicate the warranty is only for 1 year.

Manuals (including warranty information):

Kenmore UltraSoft 800

Kenmore 24 000

Kenmore 31 000 Hybrid Water Softener

Kenmore 32 000 Extra High-Efficiency Softener

Kenmore 41 000

If you have a problem that needs fixing feel free to contact us today to book a free estimate to have it repaired. We can also replace your water softener with a completely new one if you choose not to repair the unit.
