How do water softeners work?

During regeneration, the water softener goes through a process where salt (usually sodium chloride) is used to recharge the resin beads. The salt is stored in a separate brine tank. The salty water is flushed through the resin tank, displacing the calcium and magnesium ions and restoring the resin beads' ability to remove hardness from water.

  3. Automatic Controls: Modern water softeners often have automatic controls that monitor water usage and initiate regeneration when needed. This helps ensure a continuous supply of softened water without manual intervention.

  4. Softened Water Output: Once the regeneration process is complete, the water softener resumes normal operation, supplying softened water to the household. Softened water typically feels smoother on the skin, reduces scale buildup in appliances and pipes, and can improve the effectiveness of soaps and detergents.
