Minerals such as calcium and magnesium come from underground water sources. According to the Water Quality Association, if you live close to an agricultultural area, contaminants such as pesticides and fertilizers may be present in your water. If you are using a private well as your water source, it is advisable to get your water tested on a regular basis, at least once per year.
