What Are The Benefits Of Soft Water?

Are you trying to decide whether a water softener is right for you? Everyone uses a considerable amount of water daily. Water is vital for life and health, and for cleaning. However, in many parts of the world, only hard water is available.

Hard water contains minerals that can make cleaning chores difficult, and damage our plumbing and appliances. On the other hand, soft water provides many benefits, some of the most important of which we will list below. Contact us if you have any questions about the differences between hard water and soft water.

Cleaning Is Easier

Soft water makes it easier to keep you, your clothes, and your household clean. The calcium and magnesium deposits that are found in hard water make cleaning a more difficult chore. Excessive amounts of water are required to lather soap, and  white spots and streaks are commonly left behind on dishes.

Scale build ups are difficult to remove from sinks, bathtubs, taps, drains, toilet bowls and so on. These minerals also affect clothes. Having soft water available means that your clothes will be softer and last longer.

Appliances Last Longer

Operating a water softener to provide soft water will lengthen the life of your appliances. Hard water damages appliances by leaving behind a scaly buildup of minerals on the inside and on working parts, thus decreasing their useful lifespan and also making them work less efficiently.

By installing a water softener you will put less stress on your appliances. This will convert to fewer repairs and replacement costs, saving yourself hard earned money over time.

Water Heats More Quickly

Soft water does not leave scale behind in your water heater. This means that the heating element is directly in contact with the water. Hard water lengthens the time it takes and the amount of electricity needed to heat the water.

Plumbing Suffers Less Damage

Scale can build up inside your pipes, reducing water flow. This can affect the water pressure coming through your pipes, taps, shower heads, etc.

Having soft water in your plumbing as the result of installing a water softener reduces the scale build up in your plumbing, saving you money in the long run.

If you are concerned that your plumbing may have suffered damage due to hard water, have a professional plumber examine your home.

Healthier Skin

Hard water dries out your skin and hair, causing irritations, blocking pores and exacerbating problems like eczema. Soft water brightens your hair, leaving it shinier.

It also is gentler and kinder to your skin, especially for those who suffer from dry skin. Studies in the UK have shown that children who grow up in areas with hard water are 50% more likely to suffer from eczema.
